I have a small exhaust leak on the output side of the cat weld. I hear this random ticking noise when I accelerate and I think that is where it is coming from and I can feel the leak around the top of the weld. Has anyone had much luck with jbweld or that hi temp muffler putty? Was thinking that or a muffler type clamp or even muffler tape. The muffler tape would be my last option because I think that could lead to other issues. Trying to keep this on the cheep and don't have access to a welder.

With the heat that cats generate I don't think anything other than welding is going to work. If you could remove the cat and take it to a welding shop I don't think they would charge you much for a few minutes work,

Thanks Martin. I guess i totally goofed up my description. The cat itself is fine. it was actually installed at a shop to pass inspection several months ago. it is the weld on the exhaust pipe that has a leak. It sat for a while at the high school when it was getting prepped and painted. I may just go ahead and take it back out there but I wish I hd found it earlier.

try the muffler putty first over the leak--if you can get a radiator clamp over the putty before it sets up--it will help hold the putty in place
