Well I was thinking that my stock exhaust just isn't good enough for me haha. So after thinking about it i figured i might as well go all out (almost). So here's my plan, headers to y-pipe, to my stock cat(s), and then after that, 2.5 inch pipe to a 48" chambered exhaust tube (2.5 inch as well), then to a 45 degree y type fitting then the 2.5 inch pipe coming out the back with 3.5 inch tips. Does this sound even reasonably close to good stuff? Any input or tips would be appreciated.

A 4' long muffler?

Which of the chambered pipe mufflers are you thinking about using? There is The Turbo Tube, Classic Chambered & Sweet-Thunder that I am aware of. Look at Kunz Korner on the Tech Page. He gives good advice on exhaust. 2.5 inch on duels is way too much. Don't go over 2.00 - 2.25. I would stay with 2.0 based on his findings.

Alright here's a (brutal) pic of my idea, I know the tips are offset of the engine block, but you get the idea. All pipes are 2.5 after the cat, before the cat is just the headers which are there own deal. The only dual part is tip out the back for looks:headbang: needless to say...my paint skills are not exceptional

What are everyone's opinions?

its not a bad idea the problem is even w/ an extended cab you dont have room for a 40 inch chambered muffler w/ cats since the pipe will be split b4 the axle and dumped over and around the spare tire. i will be installing a 40 inch classic chambered muffler w/ a hi flow cat on my 2.3 extended cab w/ a single out exhaust (when the money comes in.) even on a 4.0 (i have a 3.0 that died) i wouldnt recommend 2.5 unless it was a single system, i ran 2 1.4 on my 3.0 single out and dual out and did well, my trk sounds like crap w/ 2.5 single alone, my friends 4.0 sounded good w/ 2.5 single, he wants duals but doesnt want to spend the money, and even says himself he wouldnt go above 2 1.4 for them if he did decide to spend the money.

I was thinking of removing the spare tire (putting it in the box) and then y-ing the pipe as late as possible just for looks, and wouldn't 2.5 still be good because most of the time its just a single pipe? It would just have a foot or two of dual-age haha. OR could i do something like 2.5 inch pipe for the single part and then after the y have 2.25? would that be better?

money and cost wise especially since were talking about making an adapter "y pipe" is going to hurt your wallet, id stick to one pipe size the whole way, even w/ the tire rack removed the room for the dumpover will cut you to like maybe 8 inches for tips if you try to put the y after the axle. my y was right b4 the axle and then the tipped dual portion was the dumpover offset. ill try to make a paint thing and post it for you to show you what im talking about.

Alright sounds good, and yeah i was thinking length may be a problem, i gotta crawl under my truck and do some measuring, if necessary i could get a shorter chambered exhaust tube. I dunno, i was just trying to get as much input as i could
