The answer is always Blue
I need to replace mine but Ford has discontinued it. Is there a 2.3 manifold that can be used instead with the similar EGR/O2 ports?

Thanks - Ted

As I understand, there were only two versions of the manifold. Yours would be the newer one. They will all bolt up to the cylinder head, the only question is the position of the outlet where the exhaust pipe will attach.
I think that translates into about any you find at a boneyard should work without issue.

Thanks Tom,

Do you mean that regardless of 2.3 or 2.5 there were only two distinct versions of the exhaust manifold? I'll measure the current manifold dimensions prior to looking for a replacement either online or at the boneyard. I have a shop to do the work, I'm trying to find the best substitute for the OEM to keep their work to a minimum.

There were more...
But you want the '98-'01 manifold from a pull-it-youself yard.
I got one for $30
Watch out online, I've seen them as high as $250
:(

TMT, I think that manifold is for the DOHC engine rather than the Lima version. The 2.5l version of the Lima 2.3 was followed by a duratec DOHC 2.3l engine, nothing in common to my knowledge.
I do know the exhaust ports on a Lima are evenly spaced.

Thanks Tom - I'm new to it all and learning... :)

95-97 2.3 ranger came with a factory header. Iirc, it fits your head.

The "Factory Header" looks good, but it is garbage for a number of reasons. The '98-'01 performs better and flows better.
Verified on a flow bench by Boport.
The 4 tubes converge at the same spot, so only 2 cylinders are "seen" by the O2 sensor, potentially masking fueling problems.

Headed to a junkyard this weekend or next. How hard are they to remove?

The 2 bolts to the catalytic converter can be a PITA - I'm 2 for 2...
MAP Torch and candle wax works great.
Give it time to cool while to remove the 8 bolts, O2 sensor and EGR.
I got lucky, someone had already cut the cat off and left the stub so I could work on it at home.

Link? Interested.

I'll be at a junkyard. Not sure it they'll let me use a torch. Never picked parts before. :-(

One of my favorite things on earth. If you have the right attitude, its a blast and you always find cool sh*t.

But my info was from Boport when building my cylinder head, and getting the intakes flowed...
