I have an MBRP single side exit kit on the way and I am wondering if anyone has tips on the exhaust installation process. This will be the first time I do an exhaust change so any advice is appreciated. I think I remember seeing somewhere that you have to be careful installing the extension pipe as it has a tendency to rub on the frame if done incorrectly. Any other tips I should know before I start?

Start soaking the bolts needed to be removed in PB blaster now so that they come off easier. Otherwise its a brainless procedure. Remove old, install new in place. If clearances get tight, rotate or work the pieces in to perfection. Remember not to tighten any clamps or bolts until you have everything lined up. The last step should be going back through and tightening everything up.

Thats the key. Hand tight till everything is in place.

I read through the directions online and it seems like a pretty straight forward process. I am pretty sure that I can figure it out, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone had anything to watch out for the the directions might not mention.

you might want to get under the truck after it has run for a while and had a chance to heat the new exhaust up. I'm not saying work on it while it's scalding hot, but check the tightness of those clamps after the first trip out on the highway. I found that the clamps might be tight when first installed then once the system has heat up and cooled down a few times things need to be re-tightened

I put antiseize on my bolts so that if they do have to come off, it wont be such a PITA.

I put MBRP on my pickup the hardest was getting the old exhaust off.Really pretty straight forward.Rarely have I been satisfied with the quality and price of a product like this brand.

These are all good tips. I had seen somewhere that they recommend tightening the bolts after two weeks, but I planned on checking them a little sooner than that.

trail B2 – Someone mentioned something earlier about a new gasket for the kit. I didn’t see one listed in the parts list for the kit. Since you have one of their systems installed, did you have to purchase any gaskets to use with the MBRP kit?

My exhaust came off with a torch, no fighting the rubber hangers. You appear to have an '11 truck, shouldn't be tough at all. Lube them up a bit for an easier removal and installation.

Please post in cab video. There is a video of an 04 Ranger with a MBRP setup, and there is a ton of drone (sounds terrible)... however, his exhaust is dumped down right after the muffler.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is MBRP? Thanks

heat the bolts up and soak them with power steering fluid. It is a real cheap and effective penetrating oil.

F8LBITE - 03ranger30 is correct. They are an exhaust company…out of Canada, I believe. I am enjoying their kit, and their customer service is excellent.

kemo – Here is a video I took today on the way to get my windows tinted. I took the video with my cell phone so the tone of the exhaust doesn’t sound quite as deep as it does in person.

I have the system on my truck and yes, the hardest part was getting the old system off. I found that if you could unload the weight of the truck off of the rear tires the old system just slid towards the front of the truck (dont attempt towards the tailgate). I unloaded the weight by jacking up the rear end as high as i safely could and rested the frame on jack stands. make sure you chock the front wheels!!!

my system rubbed because the extension pipe wasnt clamped tight enough and rotated on me. i havent had the problem since i put it back in place and clamped it on down
