Exhaust Ideas.

Little Foot: carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless (and poisonous) gas, so I doubt that what you're smelling with the windows down j/k! I prefer the smell of gasoline, like getting stuck behind an old carbureted pickup in traffic:icon_thumby:

Goodysgotacuda: I have a side exit on my truck, too. I like it for the same reasons: I can hear it rowing through the gears but not at high speed, which is nice.

02_xlt: It's one thing to state an opinion (or even argue one), and quite another to get all butt-hurt and begin name-calling because you don't like (or agree with) what someone else said. Calm down.

here is mine

i prefer side exit over dump because of the resonance that usually comes with dumping. I have all my cats and just a original 40 flowmaster. i can hear it going up through the gears, i about can't hear it at 70mph which is nice. I didn't want to bug myself going down the highway. I have my 'Cuda for that lol

What size piping are you running? That exactly what I am going to do.

as far as the dumps go i put a flowmaster with a dump on my truck under the cab right in front of the rearend a week ago and it still has cats on it and there is no way exhaust fumes are getting into the cab as for the sound i can't hear it unless i roll my window's down it's that quiet

funny i can hear my exhaust over the radio when i dumped mine in front of the rear axle..then again a super 44 will do that. the reason i dumped mine (as an explanation) was to save 70 bux on pipe and welding at the shop the last time i was there.

I cant help too much because the previous owner did it but i know its a borla single in dual out i can get more pics if you'd like.

2.5" in/out of the muffler. We cut the stock exhaust off before it downsizes at that flange, behind the last cat. The tip is 3 or 3 1/2, idk. It was a freebie exhaust my buddy and i did with what was laying around his shop. I love it.

he may have helped a lot of people but he may wanna research something before he starts talkin about something that couldnt happen. i didnt mean to offend anyone, i just wanted to clear up what the info said about the subject. isnt that the purpose of the forum, for everyone to express their knowledge and experience??

I'm not sure I'll make it to the race, but I can probably meet up when you guys hit Vegas

I'm with Wicked. For every gallon of gas you burn, your exhaust emits about a gallon of H2O. Why do you think the bare minimum exhaust still has to be aluminized? To slow corrosion. Fancy chrome exhaust tips need to be buffed ten times before those chrome wheels need touched.

When your exhaust is dumped under the truck air pockets can actually bring the exhaust gases forward. If you have any windows open or any leaks/openings in the cab then its very possible this could happen.

In my opinion, the V6 drone combined with the resonating sound from a dumped exhaust would get semi-irritating.

i dumped mine downward in front of the axle, and as far as gas pockets are concerned, when my trk warms up when cold you can see the gases going towards the cab, its always best to have it exit the vehicle. while in motion and your exhaust is towards the ground aimed to the other side of the axle the surrounding wind will carry it to the side where the spare is and out under the bed. at a standstill you could see some co poisoning (traffic jam/long red light) if your not careful. my next exhaust will either be out the side or the back no matter what.

Yes, the purpose of forums is for individuals to discuss topics and share their knowledge, experience, ideas and opinions on them with one another. However, I don't think it's too much to ask that this be accomplished in a civil and mature manner, without resorting to name-calling and hurling insults at those you might happen to disagree with. You failed to do this, and also failed to "clear up what the info said about the subject" as numerous people on here still think that CO poisoning and accelerated underbody corrosion could very well result from an exhaust exit under the vehicle. Just my .02, have a nice day everyone:icon_thumby:
