1989 4x4 xlt 2.9 auto. Does this model have a gasket or flange on the exhaust manifold to pipe connection. Muffler shop says it is a flange fit, parts store says it takes a gasket. So I need the advice of this site. Thanks

No answers? I wonder if an 89 ranger would be the same as the BII? If so, I am climbing under mine this evening. I have a 89 BII XLT Auto 4x4. I'm about 90% sure it is a ball/socket connection. I guess that would be a flange.

I think it is a flange and not a gasket the only gaskets I think are between the cat and pipe, the down pipe is the self tightening as you described. And I would think that a BII and the ranger is the same, Let me know what you find. Thanks

Exhaust manifold to y pipe - Flange Fit. No gaskets. :icon_thumby:
