I don't like the look of the of the single rusty exhaust pipe so I want to cut it off after the muffler and put on a turn down tip until I can save for duals.

Are there any risks in doing this such as melting anything on the rear axle or even the spare tire?

Thanks

No, I don't think so. It'll drone though since the sound bounces under the bed of the truck. I did this on my truck for a little bit and didn't like it for that reason.

It will not melt anything... Mine dumps right behind the axle up by the plastic canister on the spare tire carrier and I've had no problems.. even on a 500 mile round trip. It's literally only 3-4 inches away from the end of the dump.

You dumped it over the axle? I see alot of big diesel trucks do that and idk how it would look on my little Ranger.

yup! all you see from behind my truck is the pipe coming out of the muffler and going up over the axle then nothing! the exhaust comes out at about 45 degrees just below the floor of the bed. For a 4.0 sohc I would have to say my truck sounds pretty damn good the way it is.

I might just do that so I don't have to bother cutting to much out. And by the way nice truck!!

Thanks! She's my pride and joy, I just recently picked up a '94 escort so my truck can rest... the odo just rolled 193,000 and it still runs like it just rolled off the showroom floor:yahoo: have any pics of your pickup?

It's only got 46k on it, but it's 2wd :(

Nice looking truck! I wanted black or dark blue originally but couldnt find the exact truck I wanted so I had to settle for white. 2 wheel drive isnt a big deal... at least you have a LS. Not only that but if you do decide to go with a solid axle in the future you have less to rip apart in the front end.

So you're going to cut your stock exhaust off for a dump correct? Mine was like that for a little while and with the factory muffler you actually pick up a nice tone.

Probably so, I'm just gonna leave it like that until I get duals or something like that. The LS actually works lol, it lights up both of them haha
