Well...I guess being a tow truck driver might pay off. Just responded to a roll over. It was a '08 B4000 with only 84,000 km on it. The truck is a write off. I'm thinking about offering the insurance company something for it. My question is....are the drivetrain components compatible with my '99 explorer? I know I can use the transmission and t-case from it, but if I can use the rest..then that would be a major bonus for my truck! :D

an o8 to a 99... dunno...i suppose if you get it cheap enough why not. worst case scenario you have a $ making truck to part out.

It can be done. It's the same base engine, you might just need to swap some stuff off your engine.

Not sure about the trans though.

That truck has the exact same engine as your 99. Why do you want to swap it? Less mileage?

Well, I'd be going from 216,000km to 86,000km...that's the major reason. Figured it would be nice to add another 8 or more years to the trucks lifespan. My transmission was a miserably bad rebuild as far as I'm concerned, so a younger one that works properly would be awesome. Not to mention all the other good parts that are still under that wreck...

i can get you a 08 sport 4x4 driving chassi without body panels and only 8000km on it for $800

auto with the 4.0 and everything except the roof of the cab,the hood fenders and bed.

:shok:

Where'd you get your mitts on that?? I live in sudbury..just a couple hours north of you

well the guy rolled it and is parting it out, but the frame is still together with the engine, and all the important parts. its a friend of a friend. hes trying to sell it to me now for 800. i was considering doing a frame swap, but it would kill my DD for a week. and i cant swing the money right this second.

oh my mistake its an 07. he rolled it a while back and its just been under a tarp for the past little while.

Hmm...definitely interested in that. I work for a towing company too. So I can get a real good price to haul it's ass up here. :D

Let me have a look at my finances and have a talk with my wife (:annoyed:) and i'll get back to you on that.

haha sounds good. i doubt its going anywhere. hes had it up for sale for a while now. if all goes good come on down and get it and say hey. ill call him before to make sure he still has it. oh and its got no wheels. o you would need to flat bed it. or bring a set of rims. he sold them. ill try and get some pics.

Sweet deal. And yeah, we have 2 flatbeds available and a float. lol. I think I'll be able to manage. Too bad I didn't know about this a couple weeks ago when I hauled the Beemer down to Newmarket.
