Excessive fuel/ bad idle

Please can someone help a sister out? I have A 1994 RANGER 4 CYL 2.3L 5 SPEED and have had it checked with a computer & have several codes I need to know what they mean. I know what the scanner said but it's all greek to me. I do know a little about vehicles but my knowledge doesn't go anywhere near this. These are the codes that popped up:

172 EGO NOT SWITCHING LEAN EXH BANK 1
223 NO DUAL PLUG INHIBIT DPI CTRL
224 COIL 1,2,3 OR 4 CKT FAILURE
336 EXH PRESS HI REGR PFE SIGNAL HI
452 OPEN VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CKT

Is any of this sounding familiar to anyone? I know it may not be worth fixing but I just love my little Ranger with 297,714 miles on it.

172 could be a bad Oxygen Sensor or an engine vacuum leak
223, 224 sounds like a bad coil (Swap the 2 coils positions to see which is bad, code should change)
336 sounds like a bad EGR sensor (PFE)
452 sounds like a bad speed sensor (which should be the one on the transmission end of the speedometer cable, it has the plastic gear on it - reuse that gear if it's not stripped). If your speedometer still operates, then the sensor is just bad, or its wiring.

OK GENTLEMEN HELP A LADY OUT HERE PLEASE!!! I HAVE HAD SEVERAL MECHANICS WORK ON MY 94 FORD RANGER 2.3L 4 CYL 5 SPEED AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM WAS LOOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS OR ENGINE WOULD DIE, HOWEVER IT WOULD CRANK BACK UP. I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER & HAD THE FUEL PUMP CHECKED. IT CHECKED GOOD. THEN 1 COIL PACK WAS REPLACED. THEN THE PLUG WIRES & PLUGS WERE REPLACED. THE FRONT COVER HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF TO CHECK THE TIMING BELT. BELT IS GOOD SO IT WAS PUT BACK ON AND THE TIMING WAS RESET. NOW I HAVE WENT 5 STEPS BACK BECAUSE AFTER REPLACING ALL OF THAT....IT WILL NOT START AT ALL NOW!!!! THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE WAS TAKEN OFF & TESTED. IT TESTED BAD. THE MECHANIC PUT ANOTHER MODULE ON AND TRIED TO CRANK THE TRUCK. IT BACK FIRED SO BAD THAT NOW I NEED A NEW MUFFLER AND IT BURNT UP THE NEW MODULE. I HAVE GOTTEN ANOTHER MODULE TO REPLACE THE BAD ONE I BOUGHT. I ALSO BOUGHT A MAF SENSOR AS WELL BUT HAVE NOT PUT IT ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE IF THE NEW IGNITION MODULE IS REPLACED, I AM AFRAID IT WILL BURN UP THE 2ND NEW ONE I HAVE BOUGHT. NOW MY SO CALLED MECHANIC IS SAYING I NEED TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER FOR THE TRUCK. I AM AT MY WITS END AND MY POCKETBOOK IS EMPTY. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT????

They screwed up the timing belt. Your valve timing is off, and you probably need a new oxygen sensor.

You also probably need a new DPFE (Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation) sensor. Likely your code 336.

I agree with all that^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Who would ever take a timing belt off and not put a new one back on....they are <$20 find a new shop. What exactly were the results of the fuel pressure tests?

* did anyone check the fuel pressure regulator?
