I had a 1990 Ranger as my first car, so it's kind of nostalgic for me to get something from the same family. . . As a matter of fact, I was a regular on the Pat Kunz 2.9L message boards WAY back in the day (can't remember my user name), and I recognize (and think I bought a part or two from) AllanD from there as well. Glad to see he's still around and active:icon_cheers:

1988
134,400 miles
Fuel pump replaced a year ago
New Alternator
New Tires
Tilt/PL/PW/Cruise/AC
Auto 4x4 and Auto Hubs
No back tire carrier or roof rack
Interior 8.5 out of 10
Exterior 7 out of 10 (no dents, minor ding-rust spots and paint chipping away)

I wanted a manual, but it's an automatic. . . Tough to find these in relatively solid shape - especially around here where someone hasn't ragged it out - so I overlooked that aspect. It's basically just an A to B car going back and forth to work and the gym, so I don't have to drive my Navigator, and also a weekend fun ride with hopefully some trail stuff now and again. In a perfect world, I basically want this for fun around town, and the Navigator for the highways

Only major decay rust spot is that spot you see about the size of a half dollar by the driver-side rear wheel well. Every other rust or paint peeling spot looks to be minor, and can be fixed with some attention and touch up paint on a lazy Saturday

Will be looking for all kinds of stuff to do to it, but bigger tires and a lift are almost a must asap. Paint is probably the least important if I'm going to do any offroad stuff so I'm not really worried about that. More than likely getting rid of the running boards, and taking off the ugly steering wheel cover as well

EVERYTHING works except the A/C and radio. Also needs some muffler work. The A/C just needs a charge and/or conversion from what he said. Pretty excited, as it's great to be a 2.9 owner again

Looking forward to conversing and dealing with you:icon_cheers::icon_cheers:

sweet. Just drive to the gym? bah. You should start by doing a 5 speed and manual tcase swap.

That's something I'll probably do when these explode or something falls into my lap (cheap donor vehicle, cheap craigslist ad, etc). I'll be keeping my eyes open for local ads along the way

I blew this same tranny out on my Ranger before. They certainly aren't my favorite. However, it runs now, so I'll drive it until they explode and then make the swaps

I will probably wind up driving this more than my Navigator, and I'm sure I'll be looking for excuses to put the 4wd in action

Welcome! That's a nice looking B2.

Pat Kunz huh? He just got back in to posting in the Ranger forums too. He's posted here within the past week.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. . . yeah, I remember he had a sweet '88 Ranger I think it was. I did see on here were someone else mentioned he sold it, but it was good to see his tech stuff archived. He was quite the pioneer on the 2.9 way back when. He helped me and others out a whole lot. Good guy, glad to see he's coming back around again.

For some reason, I want to say my ID on there was "90Ranger" or something simple like that.
