Ex Condenser into a Ranger?

Parents are having the local dealer look for them an Edge, going to turn in the old '94 Exploder if they happen to come up with one they like.

I get dibs off of it anything I want that I can get off before they have to turn it in, my truck had A/C originally but the compressor had no compression (kinda hard to call it a compressor then isn't it? :icon_idea:) and the condenser wasn't there when I got it.

Would the Explorer's condenser work with the rest of my A/C system? Would the compressor be worth snagging too? Would the compressor mount on a 302 bracket as well?

If it blows a mite cooler than normal that is just fine with me as long as it doesn't freeze over.
 
If the compressor is bad, almost guaranteed it has spewed a bunch of debris into the condenser. It is virtually impossible to flush it all out due to the serpentine-flow design of the condenser. If any of that debris gets into the new (or working) compressor, it will cause it to fail as well.

I'd get a new condenser for yours (or at least one from a vehicle with a clean compressor history).
 
The Explorers A/C system works perfectly.

The Ranger's compressor was shot and took a ride in the scrappers truck a couple months ago.

I am wanting to put the Explorers compressor and condenser onto the Ranger, which currently has neither.
 
the same applies there. the compressor that failed has filled the system with junk..

you need new compressor, condenser, evaporator, accumulator, orifice tube, and have to have the REST of the lines flushed out.. then put everything together with the proper amount of oil

I am not going to get it going tomorrow, I just need to know if the parts will interchange or not. I also figured that I wouldn't get it going with this engine anyway so I pitched the funky aluminum bracket that mounted it to the 2.8 too, so I wouldn't even bother putting the stuff in until I get a V-8.

My Ranger's compressor had no lines attached to it and the system was completely open so I know I need more parts than this. So I don't know if the compressor died and that is why it wasn't hooked up, or if for some reason the condenser was pulled off and the dirt from the PO's gravel road killed it... the PO wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Ok, sorry, I mis-read your post.

Yeah, the condenser should be fine then. Not sure if the compressor can be made to fit your '85 though... be prepared to mod a bunch of stuff if you want to try fitting it.
 
Not only is the A/C condensor the same the entire fiberglass firewall box is the same.

'83-94 they made no material changes to those parts

1995 everything changed.
