Nice job but next time be a gentleman and put the camera down to help the lady.

nicely built, one point of interest your welds may be fine, but you need to slow a bit down on your welds in the future.

if you used flux core, which it looks like. i would switch to straight mig with solid wire or a dual shield with the argon and flux core. for the roll cage

He cold lapped his welds. A crappy way to do it but I see more and more people using this method. No idea why.

I was going to say the same thing...they're not strong at all.

Cool toys though.

Nice work, very nice work. Not every 17yr old can do this. But you still have some stuff to learn.

Get away from the weld weaving, try to run stringers as often as you can. Easier to control, better fusion, and a smoother look(Unless you are running 100% CO2 gas, then weave away)

Plus,
looks good under powder coat
, are some very famous last words before parts start flying, LOL:D:D

One more thing, not to jack the thread, but I found out that oscalations penetrate pretty good and fill up nice, but whip and weaving(like yours) will break and crack aroung the sharp unwelded areas between the weld movements.

Eveness is key. Example on my fabbed shackle mounts:
I oscolated a nice, even bead on the inside. Nice fill, decent penetration

Notice on the corner to corner I ran a stringer. It penetrated 100% down and past the root.

Sorry if I seem "pushy", I just like to give tips.

no no tips are needed for sure right now im puddeling the in a stright motion moving away forward then going stright back into the puddle thats how im getting the independent bead pattern and by the way im on a miller matic 210 heat on 2 wire on like 1.9-2.3

That is not a weave guys. They are large tacks stacked on top of each other.

Yeah, that's called the whip. Try going in a square formation on some scrap steel, that's what I did on those brackets and such....................

Those aren't large tacks, that's the whip......................definitly the whip technique.

Now, back to that awesome dune-buggy lookin' thing. What brand is that that you started out with? Or is it all home made?

Either way, you got lots of teenagers beat with that.............................:icon_thumby:

P.S. I looked at your truck thread. Never mind, you got it under control, you got some killer skills!!!!!

Sorry, I only looked at the bottom picture. The top picture definitely looks like a weave but the bottom one does not. There is no connection between each tack.
