Estimated value

That's not a bad idea, or at least to help sway her decision on letting it go for much less then I'm sure she had originally thought it would be worth

I bought a 1992 3.0 regular cab from a woman a few years ago that I thought was pretty much a rust bucket but thought the 3.0 would be a good swap for me at the time. It ran smooth and didn't burn or blow any oil.

It turned out the 3.0 swap was not a good idea but found the body parts (doors, front fenders and hood, and box) were in excellent shape...the frame looked bad so I was basing my estimate on that as far as "rust bucket" was concerned. The woman had put a lot of money into her truck over the years but it doesn't always appear that way...

She originally wanted $600 and after humming and hawing for a bit I said the most I could do was $400...she said "I'll take it"...

I felt bad afterwards because of what I discovered and the value of those parts that I used on my rebuild...she had dislocated her shoulder and couldn't drive a standard any longer.

l thought I was doing her a favour by even offering her that much because the truck had been sitting for a long time and she looked like she needed the money...

That's why I always say "take a good look at it"...

We usually can't tell what the person selling has in mind...whether they are out to screw us over or just trying to help someone get a good truck and take it off their hands...

I hope it works out for all in the best of ways...

Hey Mark, love that story, but can beat it with a great one.....

In craigslist under parts was a 1994 explorer with 150K Km's 4 years back for 500.00

we went and looked at it. the owner said the trans was shot and she was tired of dealing with it....

Started it and it purred.... angie went to put it in gear and it wanted to go.... I said to her (angie) its out of oil....

we bought it on the spot... got it towed home... dumped 3 liters of oil in the trans and have been driving it ever since... fully loaded plether seats and electric everything with sky roof... $500.00. I love stupid people ..... and at 180K km's now it owes us nothing :)

cheers
