Estimate on trans and transfer case?

I have a 1990 ranger 2.3L 4 cylinder 2wd 5 speed

I am planning on making it 4wd.
Are the v6 2.9 transfer cases the same as the 2.3 4 cylinder transfer cases?
How much would it probably cost for a 4wd trannsmision and transfer case?
How hard is it to convert it to 4wd?

The transfer cases are the same, any RBV t-case will bolt up, the only difference may be the front output. You have an M5OD which easy to convert to 4x4 if you can find a blown 4x4 version. Good working 4x4 M5ODs can cost you a pretty penny in my area $300-500+).

I hope you're planning on using a solid axle under the front instead of TTB, it's much much simpler.
