Escorts 2nd SAS

Ramcharger...Most were 5x5.5, but I have seen a few 5x4.5. I bought a set of wheels for my old TTB setup off a Ramcharger.

Did a little digging. Its only the 75-79 AWD Ramchargers that ran the small pattern. The 2wd ran it until 85....

Noted! Thanks for posting that up. Seems like there are very few, but definitely be worth finding

The old 75-79 had a CAD?

I was wrong about the CAD part, it was only on the newer part timers with 5x5.5

sounds like that ramcharger 44 5x4.5 is the way to go then for anyone looking to retain the factory lug pattern. Would likely have to be shortened a bit, but still. Perfect setup for a DD status rig on 35's with selectable lockers.

They are pass drop....Yoh can only use the knuckles. You would have to use a Ford FW or EB axles housing.

but then you'd still have a live axle and weaker knuckles. I thought about going that route but I wanted real lockouts.

Whoops.... Guess they won't work then huh? lol

My question is, do you really need d60 up front and sterling out rear? Doesn't sound like your 8.8 has given you trouble and your d30 has only given you trouble with the bearing because they were cheap Chinese ones.

I have seen people find d44 with 456 gears in them but don't know if that it's a factory option that some got. And I don't see your 4.0 snapping shafts, stripping gears, etc.. on your d30 yet let alone doing it to a d44, not saying it can't.

You plan on going fw or staying narrow if you do decide to upgrade?

I could use a drivers D44 knuckle right now... lol

Eventually yes. I want to upgrade everything...39" tires, 5.0, etc... But this won't happen for a while. So I have decided to start looking for parts now and buy whenever I get extra coin.

And maybe one of these days try for the ultimate adventure?

Start grenading stuff then start upgrading.

Can't wait to see the 5.0 swap :D

Upgrades won't be for another two years, at least.....well unless I destroy something before then.

Go find a pinch point for one off your front tires, and romp on the gas, that should speed up the progress.
