I have chrwilkins30's axles done so I'm thinking Monday or tuesday pull my diff cover and put the lunch box in. Also I found another rear driveshaft on eBay, one piece steel instead of aluminum. They want $95 shipped. So that's not to bad since no one here has one less than $140.

And might be getting a Ruff stuff cover for the rear.

$95 shipped is a good deal. I paid that for mine from a local yard.

RuffStuff's cover is hard to beat. Ive had mine for several years and it is damn near bullet proof. I went with the countersunk bolts, and wish I would have gone with the drain plug option, it is only a few dollars more and wish I had done it every time I take the cover off (it is heavy). If I were to do it again I'd go with the drain plug for sure.

A lubelocker gasket also makes your life much easier...especially on the trail.

the fill plug... doesn't really matter. i still use the 8.8 fill plug b/c i can pour more oil in it that way lol. however, i've seen the only cheaper 8.8 cover. the SOLID one.. and i don't like it. its not as sturdy as the ruffstuff. ruffstuff makes the best cover i've seen.

I have a thin aluminum diff cover I got off ebay for $5 cause I needed one now and didn't have much to spend. It originally had the composite cover that was cracked and leaking oil.

How hard is it to install the lockrite with the think ring gear?

Ben, I can get that driveshaft from the local yard cheaper if you want.
Also, the lock rite is very easy to install.

With my 4.88's and No-Slip, I had to take a very, very minuscule amount of material off to get the crosspin in so I imagine with 4.56's you may not have any problems at all.

Oh yes, I will have to do some grinding, even with the 4.56. Guess i will need to get a new cross pin. Mine has notches so it won't work with the locker.

Saw that, had to pull the shaft back out to remove the piece that connected to the ebrake cable.

Just ordered a new cross shaft for the lock-rite. So the locker wont be installed for a few more days.
