I have a dumb question....Everyone I talk to about putting a D30 in my B2 they tell me its a bad idea. I had a D30 out of a 97 XJ practically given to me and want to use it and not a fan of TTB. What are some of the pros and cons of this swap?

sas is simple. ttb requires knowledge.

there's nothing wrong with SENSIBLE wheeling on a d30.
go for it. :icon_thumby:

The Dana 30 is a strong axle for daily driving, weekend wheeling. The axle does have some weak and strong points.
The axle tubes are thin and can bend. A simple truss will fix that. Another weak spot is the inner c's will bend and create camber, gussets will prevent that.
I have wheeled my d30 for 4 years and only problems I've had is one bad axle joint and on the 3rd wheel bearing hub.

Didn't get to swap the pump or box. Yesterday I helped my brother on his Yota. And today I had to replace a bad wheel bearing hub. It was so bad that it could of fallen apart any minute. I had to spend the money I didn't have to get a good one, a Moog this time with a 3yr warranty.

Here is what I was saying by gusset the inner C

those things are a bitch to install. They look all easy and everything there, but thats because the axle is removed and all torn down.

you can also get these, much easier to install.....$39 + shipping

i did the same thing on my turdy except i made them from 3/16" plate i already had
