Error code P0171

I have a 1995 Ranger Splash with error code P0171
Fuel injection system too lean Bank 1
Any ideas on what I should do or where I should begin?

On my 4.0L there was a dried up cracked vacume hose under the throttle body .

IF the P0171 just recently popped up, it may be followed in short order by the 174 as well. That's what happens to mine, first one then the other.

So many things can cause it. As stated above. Also could be the tube from the air intake tube to the oil filler tube for the PCV system. Caused it for me once.

Also a clamp or two may be loose on the intake tube. MAF could need cleaning. Fuel filter plugged up. Fuel pump going out. Fuel filler cap not properly installed, or the gasket is bad. Bad gasket on the IAC, or it is bad itself. Bad gasket on the air filter box, MAF or throttle body.

There's others I've forgotten.
