Hi, I am working on a 1996 Mazda b2300 with a 2.3l four cylinder and an automatic transission. I am installing a new engine and I have forgotten which way that thin plate goes between the engine and trans. It has a groove in it around the end of the crank so I assume it matters which way you put it. One side of this plate has ford and a part number stamped into it. Which way should this go?

I might be missing something, but if it's the whole inspection plate you are referring to, this locates the starter... There's really only one way it can go back together. But it sounds like you may be referring to something else? :icon_confused:

I think if you took a picture of the item in question and posted it it would help identify how it goes together.
