At what temp is my 2.0 88' ranger at operating temp?

generic for gas water cooled engines is 200-220deg F

oil weight is set for 212deg F, so a 10w-30 oil is 30 at 212deg F
best mileage is set for about 210deg F

Lower temp means less efficient for mileage and lubrication, higher temp can cause "pinging", pre-ignition

T-stat doesn't set your operating temp, but it does help engine get to the correct temp faster and maintain it better
