Engine swap

I have a 1992 ford ranger with the inline 4. My truck is pretty old and is gonna bite the dust pretty quick. I can do minor repairs but swapping the engine is a bit much for me. I'm curious if anyone knows the cost of having someone else do it for me and also if I change the engine with one of the ford 302's will I also need to change out pretty much all of the other components as well or will some of them still be compatible? I just need to know if I'll be able to afford it before I start buying things.

OK I am going to bite on this one, I was wondering if this post is for real or someone just horseing around. If you have to say to yourself "lefty loosey, righty tighty" swapping a motor isn't at your level yet, (unless you have tons of patients and some GOOD helpers and a couple books of how to...) If you are brave enough to do it yourself be prepared with a drop in motor ... same as you took out so the wires and bits and pieces are the same to keep things simple. I would guess that if you hire a mechanic to do it for you ( I am in canada and can only guess shop time here) it would probally cost at least $85.00 p/hr and this doesn't include shop supplies let alone any motor that you want to drop in. as for the 302 (efi 5.0L)swap it can be done however, be prepared for TONS of cash to lay on the line, for you pegged it unless you getting a carb 302. hope this may help.
