I have a 98 single cab step side ranger, and I love this truck, but it really does not have a lot of umph with the 2.5L. I have a line on a 96 explorer for cheap that has the 4.0L in it and was wondering if it was worth the time to swap the engines out?

It would have to be a complete drivetrain swap. Engine, transmission and Drive shaft. Ford matched the Trasnsmission bolt pattern to each motor specifically. So a 4.0 motor will need a transmission with a 4.0 bolt pattern. SO if you can get the WHOLR explorer, you should have everything you need.

Awesome. Thank you. I would be getting the whole vehicle so that would work out.
