i have a 2001 ranger 3.0 automatic, i'm looking for more power. The question is do i want to do a 4.0 sohc or 302. power seems to be close, which will be the easier conversion? Thanks

Another thread that comes to surface on a daily basis. If you choose to do a 4.0L swap pick up a doner ranger/explorer with a 4.0L V6. If you want a 5.0L swap find a 5.0L equipped explorer as the engine bay is identical. Either way if you have to ask general questions like "can I do this" chances are you shouldn't touch this. Spend some time motivating yourself by searching and researching. There's almost any/all info just on this site. If you have pulled a motor and transmission and worked on emissions before this is possible. If you haven't done anything more advanced than say brake systems or changing an alternator than you may want to hold off on this.
