Pulled an M5OD today for my Ranger. It hit me on the way home all I have is automatic engine spacer plates (that go between the engine and the trans) Is the 4.2 one the same thickness as a 5.0 one? (AKA do I need to go back and get the plate from the donor truck?)

They are all pretty dang close to the same thickness as far as I've seen.

You taking the C5 out and going manual?

Eventually.

Cruising at 2700rpm gets kind of old when you live in country. Sounds good and you never have a downshift on a hill but it moves a lot of fuel.

Looking on Summit the manual ones are .060" and the automatic ones are .080"

Not sure how big of a difference it makes but I don't want to try to use an automatic one and have the thrill of pulling the t-case and tranny again because the starter doesn't work engage correctly.
