engine restraint?

on the driver side of the truck thier is a shock like part that conects at the frame and to a bracket on the motor was wondering wht it is and how important it is to have in tact
 
It's in tended to reduce engine vibrations.

But I've gotta point out that when ABS became standard for the 1993 model
the ABS pump was mounted to a bracket mounted to the same three holes in the frame formerly used to mount the frame side bracket for that "shock"

If it is the least bit broken simply remove it, you'll barely notice it's gone.
