Engine removal: Fuel line disconnect

well “best” depends on weather or not you plan to reconnect it again, they make a tool for “quick-connect “ couplings, but if its not going back together again (such as a engine swap with a different fuel delivery system) bolt cutters would be effective.

I'd take the incoming line off the pump.

I always recommend using a torch... unfortunately, no one has taken my advice yet.
Those quick connectors sometimes like to rust together, but if you spray enough lube and keep at it they will come apart.

I ran into that with the hhr, thought I was going to have to do a hack job repair with rubber line & hose clamps. Engine end was fine, but above the back axle at the fuel tank was quite rusty. Funny thing is, Ive had those line tools for years, first time Id ever used them.

Today at work the guy next to me was torching a stuck sway bar link nut, so of course, being the helpful and safety minded individual I am, I spent the entire time shooting brake cleaner at his feet.

I then spent an inordinate amount of the rest of my day making little puddles of brake cleaner on my work bench and lighting it on fire.

Before you ask, yes, the service manager was off today.

You would fit right in with the night shift guys in my shop. Apparently, one of their favorite things is to use spray bottles full of isopropyl alcohol and...

Maybe that shouldn't be finished in public. I'll tell you over a beer some day.

FYI... some hand sanitizers are flammable.
Not that we’ve tested every different one that’s appeared in the shop.
