Engine problems....again...

The 3.0 might be a dog, but it's reliable. I've had a few. My sable, My old rangers. Never had a problem. Apparantly there is a lack of care here. Also, you seem to nag about sucking a little water in the intake, it might be a little to you, but show some pics. Any engine can lock up by sucking water in. They didn't design the engine to lubricated by water.

damn it damn it damn it...i just lost the engine in my 97 ranger agian!!! these 3.0s are pissing me over...last one died on me with 156,000 miles...spun a bearing...this one i suck just a little water into the intake and is is just as bung up as the last one.....what i dont get is that the spark plugs are dry and my oil looks fine......pissing off.....my 97 has been giving me more problems then the other ones.....what do i do....change the engine or get my self a chevy

I don't understand why you're blaming the engine. It's not its fault that you put something inside it that clearly should not have been there. What you need to do is suck it up, buy a motor and take care of it, or sell it and buy a bicycle.

Apparantly there is a lack of care here.

There is nothing apparent here. All mechanical devices end up with different lifespans due to vairables, (IE water) or whatever. However the majority of ALL engines can last a lifetime with proper maintenance. That is not to say that even with proper maintenance a certain specific motor cant suck for someone.

In the case of water in the intake, its the reason why my mustang engine had to be replaced. It flooded while I was driving home. It happens. Little or alot of water, it dont matter. Point is its already done, not of any fault of the 3.0 however. The other engine that has died, could be from lack of maintenance or maybe because some disgruntled ford worker slacked off while building the motor. who knows. In the end you gotta keep trying, either with the 3.0 or sumthing else. 156k miles is still pretty good for any engine block, especially in todays world. CHeck out craigslist, find you another motor for around 2-300 bucks and get your truck going instead of whining. Once you get proficient at replaceing a certain motor I think you'll find that certain maintenance issues wont really bother you any more. I know people who flip cuz the alt dies or water pump goes out. I'm usually like "oh well" and then I fix it because I know the problem could have been worse. Such as a dead motor. BUt even then its mechanical and fixable(or replaceable). Its not the end of the world.

hey i have to blame something.....it is never my fault....i am perfect.........?

that is what every body else says....hey i was ranting because it was a bad day...but oh well life goes on...i am goin to fix it and go on with my life....like you said it is not the end of the world.....i just wanted to rant because i wanted to and it is not like any other people do it around here

Have a 4.0 still runs great 180,000.

Had experience with a 3.0 with 210,000 on it. Still ran great.

Still have a 2.9 with no oil pressure. It only has 120,000 on because it's no longer driveable. AND it was rebuilt at 95,000 because of cracked heads.

Just goes to show that any engine can ruin your day.
