Engine Oil Additive? (probably stupid question)

I was at the local Ford dealership today for regular interval service (2011 4-cyl Ranger with 24,000 km).

The dealer put in an engine oil additive ("conditioner", part # BG-110) with the change.

When I got home, I checked the owner's manual and it specifically advises against using oil additives.

Note that I get the oil changed every 4000-6000 km

Is the additive going to cause a problem? Why would the dealer use an additive when the manual says not to?

Apologies if people think that this is a stupid question. Usually, I just lurk on these forums.

That's BG MOA. Once saw a BG Rep soak a ball bearing in MOA then drop it in sulfuric acid and it sat there undamaged. Who knows what trickery they could have played.

Its good stuff, won't hurt your engine. Though I believe you would be just fine with regular oil changes and shouldn't need an additive.
