Ive looked on my 1983 Diesel 2.2l block and the only number ive found was pretty short. It was only five digits long. Is this the correct number?

Don't know, could be a casting #. What are you trying to find out?

The number I found is stamped into the block. It's not a casting number. I had a plug that comes out of the bottom of my intake manifold at the opening melt the other week. I was looking for the engine number that way I could try and find parts for it.
