i have a 96 ranger with a 4.0l v6 and i keep getting number 4 cyl and number 3 cyl miss fire and i have changed the plugs and the coil pack and it goes way when it warns up but it still did it when it warmed up but it not throwing any other codes please help!!!!!!

I have almost the same problem but mine is jsut throwin po303 which is #3 missfire. Help us out! :icon_confused:

I can't say that it is your problem but I had misfire problems on those exact same cylinders and it turned out to be cracked heads. My problem didn't clear up when it warmed up though. Hope you have a different problem!

well wednesday i put a new spark plug in that #3 cylinder and the thing runs twice as good as it did b4 and it seems to have a bit mro power to.. buuut the check engine light is still on? If it was fixed would it go away on its own or do i Have to still clear even if it is fixed?

also...just because i changed this plug and it runs good does that really mean its fixed or is it something that will come back in a few days or weeks and end up being somthing worse?:icon_confused:

that plug I changed was really oily(wet). :icon_confused:

also when i first start it in the morning it will not smoke at all but after about 30 seconds of running it randomly starts smoking like crazy (white smoke?) for awhile then when i drive it for about 10 min it stops smoking for good? It is also slowy been losing coolant out of the overflow tank....im very worried it is actually a head gasket or that stupid cracked head...=(

lol srry im still a noob when it comes to anything mechanical really.
