so i replaced the wheel bearing on my saturn, but the problem humm still exists. it only does it when turning left. it is rpm dependant, it doesnt do it with the clutch pushed in, and its gettings worse, but it seems that when i hit bumps on the highway it makes a deeper vibration and sound...

i was reading the nissan haynes manual and it says in the troubleshooting part something about crankshaft bearings going bad? or maybe a piston rod? i pulled the spark plugs, but i couldnt notice a difference. maybe the problem isnt bad enough yet. when im going up hills and i push harder on the gas pedal the engine makes a sound similiar to bearings slapping together. idk what that is iether.

any ideas?

Is there any way you could post a video? Which bearing did you buy (brand)?

nope, no way to post video. its really bad when cold, and you can feel it in your feet on the passenger side, but it doesnt affect y driving, or engine performance. bruneel tire did the bearing because i broke tools trying. they said they didnt see anything wrong. but they mentioned something in the engine/transmission.

i wasnt really paying attention because i was mad that it still hummed. it sounds and feels just like a wheel bearing. les schwabs is gonna test drive it monday

It only does it when it's moving, correct?

nope, does it at idle. at first i thought it was the cv axle, cuz when going down the highway it does it with bumps. but they said they didnt find anything wrong with it.i can sit in the driveway or going down the road revving it and itll get louder. i think it might be like the last bearing on that side of the engine?

Is it the transmission or accessory side of the motor?

Take the belt off and start it. I bet the sound is gone. It is more likely an accessory bearing than engine.

alright ill try it, maybe its like the water pump, i keep losing water. didnt think anything of it tho.

i looked online on youtube to see if i could find something similiar but no deals. everyone on there has a rod knock.

from your first post you said it dont do it with the clutch depressed... if you cna go down th road and hear it then depress the clutch and it goes away... its most likey not motor or wheel related. noise diag is hard in itself let alone when you cannot drive it or hear the sound but if im understanding you correctly sounds like a pilot, throw out, input shaft bearing.

That's why I asked what side of the motor (trans or accessory). He said accessory, so I think it's a bearing on that side. Maybe alternator bearing or idler pulley....

sorry for not checking back in with you guys. i replaced my motor mount on that side and it fixed the problem. i could almost pull the mount apart in 2 pieces. so i spent almost 300$ chasing a 30$ fix =\ oh well.

that bearing shouldnt be a problem in the future haha

thanks for all the help guys
