Engine flushing?

Keep in mind that I have a cripplingly small budget. I probably won't be able to afford more than a qt of ATF and a cheap filter/oil.

I would like to be thorough and drop the pan for cleaning, but thats not a viable option for me. I'm just praying that enough of the crud is dissolved and/or drained to not cause problems until I can.

Added to the fact that I need to do the front brakes, find and fix the throttle issue, get new tires before too long so I don't die by hydroplaning into a tree, and fix the I-shift-into-neutral-instead-of-overdrive attitude the trans has. Friday I'm planning on swapping on my previous engines (hopefully) still working coolant temp sensor and do the flush.

Why'd you buy a crown Vic with so many problems if you will go broke fixing it? I'd of gotten a cheap little civic to run into the ground...

Cars are expensive.

I got it because of the following:

1. I love the hell out of it.

2. If I hadn't bought it, it'd of been scrapped or wrecked in the derby, and I damn sure wasn't gonna let that happen.

3. Problems weren't as apparent at first, I'm making small payments to my friend and BECAUSE I've known her for years I went thru with the deal, and am paying her $500 that she could put towards something that doesn't need fixing. I know how to use a wrench, she doesn't.

It's perfectly driveable, aside from the throttle issue, I know how to drive on worn down tires well enough in the dry, and the brakes work, but it's got a very warped rotor. Am I making it a bit more difficult for myself? Yes. Am I willing to suffer so as to not drive a Honda? You bet your ass.
