I :pray:need some help here,This looks like the place to get a real answer.I have a ford ranger motor that a girlfriend bought and was supposed to be a 95? But the motor block # is E89E-6015-4D? I was always told that E would be 80's models and F is 90's. Now is there a forum I could get the answer to what exactly year it is? Im guessing 88?But thats why Im here.Thank you for any info. Katherine

This may get you started in the right direction, an article in the website's Tech Library:
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/FordNumbers.htm
Hope that went in as a link, but if not look in the Tech Library. Sounds like you're on the right track, and somebody else will likely chime in that really knows these numbers. Oh; and welcome to TRS!

TY! TY! TY! I ve been to 4 forums and you hit the nail on the head!!!! This was the scoop,She bought this motor w/warranty(through her employer which she no longer works for), supposed to be a 95,they pulled her old motor out and when she exited the job they exited her motor with her in parts and peices. So another buddy of ours which has done many many Ford rangers including mine and my other fords, nothing has worked at all not a single part. So now we're trying to trace what we actually need. Again TY! TY! TY!

PS. He kept saying it wasnt a 95!!!!

Glad to help, and good luck. If you have any other questions about Rangers, just ask. TRS is absolutely-without-a-doubt the best place on the planet for them.

A picture of the engine would make IDing simple but with a late '80's part number the 2.3 engine will not fit a '93 and newer Ranger.
