Never touch the inertia switch! They only work (properly) once and need to be replaced. The only reason they can be reset is so the vehicle can be driven far enough to get somewhere for repairs.

Dirtman, the style inertia/rollover switches used by FoMoCo are readily reset and do not need replacement if they are operated manually. Inside the switch are two contacts with a steel(?) ball bearing of good size sitting on top, touching both contacts. When disturbed by inertia or rollover, the ball moves off the contacts breaking the circuit. The button just moves things around to let the ball fall back into place. Nothing is damaged or changed in any way by the switch opening. Go to a boneyard and take one apart, or take yours apart and have a look.

that is why i asked if he got that info from first inertia.

because the early switches never get replaced untill they corrode.

I've just had first hand experience with the switches after they are tripped. I've had them trip just by slamming a door once "used".

In any case, theres no reason to be touching the switch for the purpose of disabling the fuel injectors...
