I was wanting to find out a few weight differences in engines and trans.

I wanted to see how much more a 302 weighs over a 2.5 4cyl. I'm just wondering if the stock suspension in the front for now will hold the weight ok or will it sag and load it down alot.

Also the weight difference in a T5 and a stock Mazda 5spd. Not sure what I have. It's in a 98 Mazda B2500 with a 2.5. I'm just wanting to know if a T5 will be alot more or not. I'm thinking it might be close to equal but I could be wrong.

Thanks Guys

not sure what the weight is, but the susp will definately sag. 4.0 coils would be better

would they drop right in? think the camber might be off much with the new springs?

heard its like 100 to 150lbs over the v6 model, notice a little bit of a difference with my 2.9l bronco II springs, but not enough to worry about. not sure on the tranny, i know my AOD ended up being shorter than my A4ld for some reason though

If your swap is carbed and you only have the basic wiring your suspension will only drop about 7/16"
If you go EFI then it might drop 1 1/2"

If you look in the v8 swap section i think the answer to your weight questions are there.

The 2.5 itself weighs about 440#. After swapping in the V8 and 4R70W there was no noticeable change in the front ride height.

cool thanks for some of the help guys. Yeah I'm just wondering if the front height will drop quite a bit. I can swap springs if I have to but I'm avoiding it if at all possible. I plan to put on a long travel suspension kit hopefully before year end so I will be custom working the spring/shock setup so I'm not worried bout it then. I'm just wondering bout til then.

I'm wondering bout the trans weight for crossmember issues. I'm not sure bout teh mounting setup with the t5 yet. I'll prob make a cutom one so I'm wondering if the weight will be alot heavier or not but i think being custom I can accomodate for that haha.

My main concerns are with the height drop in the front. Then with the T5; where the shifter will come out in the cab and with the crossmember issue.

All things I guess I will have to work out.

The 2.5 is the heaviest motor in any RBV. It has a iron block. 430lbs IIRC. and since a 5.0 is about 500lbs fully dressed you shouldnt have to worry about it too much. move the battery to the back if you want to shift some wieght.
