Electrical Question for Explorer V8 Swap

Hi, as I am working on the 5.0 V8 swap on my ranger I have ran into a slight wiring problem. I was under the impression that I need to use the Explorers battery cable harness. On the battery harness (explorers) it has a connector coming off of it that plugs into another connector near the power distributions box (fuse box in engine bay). When I tried to simply hook these connections up i realized they are both female connections so they wouldn't simply meet. When I was debating to just to take a male connector off the explorer harness and rewire the connectors to fit, I saw another problem. The ranger and explorers wires are slightly different.

The explorers and ranger harness share 4 wires: Yellow/LB; Black/W; Gray/W; and Black. The explorer and ranger both have these wires and they are all in the same place on both connectors. The Ranger has a Red/Y wire which is not found on the explorer's battery harness. The Explorer's has a White/P and a Green/W which are not found on the Rangers harness. In the Wiring Identification (http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/WiringByColor.html) It states that "Red With Yellow Stripe Wire - Hot In Start Or Run Position To White With Purple Stripe Wire To Electric Shift Control Module". So can I simply just relocate the pin on my Red/Y to connect with White/P while leaving the Green/W not connected. Thanks for the Help. If you need any more information to make this more clear I would be happy to help.

ok, so after alot of research I found (using the internet and my EVTM)the wires identifications based on colors. I'll keep posting my progress on re wiring this harness. I hope this can be of help to people in the future.

Here is the wiring for the differences between these two in line connectors.
C184 - 2000 Ranger 2.5L
321 (GY/WH) A/C compressor clutch
57 (BK) ground
113 (YE/LB) Starter relay to starter solenoid
113 (YE/LB) Starter relay to starter solenoid
570 (BK/WH) Ground for A/C cutoff pressure switch
441 (RD/YE) A/C cycling switch to A/C pressure cutoff switch

C125 - 2001 5.0L
57 (BK) ground
321 (GY/WH) A/C compressor clutch
253 (DG/WH) Oil pressure sending switch - pin 8
258 (WH/PK) Engine oil temp/low level switch (Not used for Ranger)
441 (RD/YE) A/C cycling switch to A/C pressure cutoff switch
570 (BK/WH) Ground for A/C cutoff pressure switch.
113 (YE/LB) Starter relay to starter solenoid
254 (DG/WH) Engine oil temp/low level switch (Not used for Ranger) - pin 11

What years are we dealing with?
The Explorer positive battery harness only has two wires, both red, one heavy, one lighter. A rubber end goes to the fender mounted solenoid, a single end goes to the battery, and two connections at the starter.
The Explorer 5.0 uses a mini starter, which may be wired differently than a large starter. Not sure what you are using.

Just to clarify, the ranger harness that I am dealing with is a 99 and the explorer is also a 99 although the wire referances listed above are for both a newer ranger and explorer because as of now I can only get my hands on those evtm's
