I`m pretty sure this applys to most all fords read this all the way through a couple times clean all the connectors and grounds. Make sure the battery is good and fully charged and start with the noload/load tests. Is the truck stock or had any upgrades? Is it a stock volt meter or aftermarket?

As far as drive train goes its all stock fje battery is brand new and fully charged I replaced the wiring harness for the alternator from another I found in a junkyard it seamed to look better I even stripped it down checked all the wires on that harness and wrapped it back up but still no luck

Measure voltage at the battery with a VOM and compare that to your guage your alternator is internally regulated correct?

Your voltage regulator is messed up...change it or it will keep frying components.

the voltage regulator i thought was built into the alternator

starting in 89 I think...look up between the left side of the radiator (passenger side) and the horn and battery...that's where they hid VR's for years.
