Yesterday I was washing the Ranger and when I was dont it would not turn over. Clicked like a dead battery but the day before it ran fine. I can jump it, take the jumper cables off and its good till I turn it off. Gauge is on the low side but its not popping any electrical check engine light codes. Also the deck was turning off and turning back on while it was running today and the day before when I would turn the volume up. Anyone know what this could be? The Battery is a red top and the Alt was replaced a little over a year ago. Its a 4.0 if that helps any.

EDIT....

So the same things were happening again and I found the problem.... I think the wiring and alternator is FRIED. So Im in the process of looking for new wiring and have no clue were to start. Google wasent much help and I looked through the tech articles to find something. I think in the end my system ended up frying it. A point in the right direction for new wiring would be awesome. Going to look in the local pick and pull but if it dosent have one a second source would be awesome.

+1 on bad battery.

+1 on getting the battery tested. There have been some quality control issues with optimas in the past few years.
