2.3L ('83-'97) Electrical Problem I can't figure out.

So open up computer and check its capacitors for leaking fluid and corroded connections, it can be pretty obvious, but move each one with finger to make sure its still connected to circuit board
Everything looks really good inside, everything is clean and shiny, no corrosion, can see nothing wet looking, no dust, looks great, not even any dust.

I checked all that the other day but I didn't touch anything, I'll go out now, pull it again and see if everything inside is still connected properly.

I opened it up and checked everything, used a flashlight, magnifying glass and a jewelers light and I can't see any signs of leakage, corrosion, nothing looks burnt, and everything is still tightly soldered, nothing loose.

Can see no sign of anything wrong at all and everything is still securely soldered together, nothing moved or wiggled.

Then from the testing the computer needs to be replaced

Yeah, kinda what I'm thinkin', is there a reputable company that you can recommend? I've been looking at some online and they all seem to have "California Emissions", does that make any difference?

No, never ordered one

Unless you have an EGR valve and cam sensor you don't want a "Calif." model
Computer also needs to match transmission type, manual or automatic

Yes I know about getting one for my trans., I have an EGR but I don't know about a cam sensor.

My reman. computer just arrived this morning, I hooked it up a few min. ago, turned the key, and the same crap, no start and no fuel pump, know anybody that wants to buy a truck? I'm really tired of messing with this bitch and now I'm down another 200. I give up.

With all the tests the Computer was the only thing left, so........................

So either a test was wrong or the reman computer is also bad
You can go back thru the tests, if results are the same then get an exchange on the computer

Fuel pump issues were a common failure in 1994 and earlier computers(EEC-IV)
Computers can NOT be tested on a bench, they can only be tested in a vehicle, so "reman" means cleaned and replacing the 2 or 3 capacitors, then boxing and shipping

Oh well, screwed again. I contacted the seller and he won't take it back and he doesn't have another one to exchange. Thanx for your help but I just can't do all that again, I don't feel good enough and now it's cold, too cold for this old man. Thanx again but I'm gonna sell it, I'm done.

I hate to see you give up but I can understand the exasperation. Been there. I’ve given up myself but never on my own rig only other people’s abused trucks.
Reading back to the start of the thread you started out just saying you were trying to start your truck. Later when you got it started you said it was first time in two years. So what was the beginning of this whole mess. Did you do and engine change or something. Why was it setting. I can’t help but think it’s something simple we missed at the start.

Man, can we find someone near Bronson, Michigan to help this guy ?? We know the truck is close to working...hate to see it end this way

He’s in North Carolina. I’m in Bronson Michigan but I salute your request. If I was closer I’d offer my help.

I say walk away from it for a week or two.

Besides... it's worth more running then not.
