I have been hunting down weird electrical issues for a while and now found that when I disconnect the wire going to the starter solenoid from the ignition, it makes the engine jump up in rpms and runs smoother. I am thinking maybe it's stealing some voltage from another sensor and grounding it in the solenoid, but am not sure how that would be possible. Any ideas? I know on my 280z the start position on the ignition also was a trigger for an enrichment time, not necessarily an engine speed/ air flow etc, but the actual start position. Did ford do it that way as well? Could a short somewhere be causing the truck to run rich thinking its in the start position still?
