Electric Turbo?

ill agree w/ all of you, the odds are stacked, but if the guy attempting pulls thru, it will def be a feat of awesomeness. yes i realize a super requires energy to pull, and a lot depending on the size/configuration of the compressor. i realized there was a lot of engineering going on in the above post, and im sure its all right. i just think the idea is intrigueing, and ive thought about similar things in the past, just never got around to trying them out. the craziest idea i had was for a 400ex, used a piece of pipe and a hair dryer motor in front of the carb and behind the air filter, attached the wires to a seperate lighting coil and tada! electric blower good for about 3 hp maybe...like i said crazy little ideas but if i could try them and they actually work, wow thats kewl you know?

A washing machine requires very little power to run. (about 1/4 HP)

Forced induction at a reasonable PSI requires a great deal of energy to run. The supercharger I'm bolting onto my Cobra consumes upwards of 30HP from the crank.

How much is "reasonable" to you? No, an electric turbo may not be ideal for a serious racer. However, for someone who wants a little more pep from his little i4, it might be feasible.

a washing machine dosent spin 100,000 rpm. Elecrtic turbocharging is a waste of tine end of story

w/ a subtransmission it can turn a turbine that fast, dont underestimate the power of gearing!

It will not dude, just because you gear something up doesnt mean that you magically increase its power production.

A 1/4hp motor will not move that much air, end of story.
