Electric transfer case to manual xfer case swap?

How hard is it to swap the manual parts off my older manual xfer case into my newer electric shift case? Is it worth it or should I just find a good used manual transfer case?

13-50 or 13-54? Either way, the front case section is different between manual and electric. You'd be better off finding a Manual one. I've got three tcases in my garage. I might have one to sell you if you're interested. Where are you located?

definitely get a whole case...MUCH easier swap (if you dont get one off johnny, they can usually be had for cheap from a junkyard)

I've had a hard time finding manual 13-54s and especially D35 manual locking hubs at the junkyard. I'd like one of each. Maybe it's time for a big bottle of water and a trip to Stockton....

I know these parts exist -- I almost bought a '92 parts Exploder off a buddy (he said it had a rod knock and he was going to donate it -- but when I ran it, the only problem I could find was a stinky valve cover leak, so it was quite a bit too expensive).

manual 1354's are a rare commodity. if i find one...well, two (the first one will go into my truck ), i'll probably scavenge it so next time someone needs one, i can offer it.

manual 1350's are a dime a dozen around here, which is why i went with it instead of a 1354. the factory d35 locking hubs are also pretty common.

I find that the 1354M is most popular in the 91-94 explorers. I went to a pick and pull and got one for 100 dollars out of a 91 explorer. They had another there too from a 91 explorer. Search on Car-parts.com its like an internet junkyard database. Thats where I found mine.

I bought a 91 EX for $200. Sold the motor for $500 the A4LD for $150 and kept the manual 13-54. Put the axles under a buddies truck. I found a manual 13-54 at a local junkyard and they wanted $650 for the case and didn't have any information about it. I would have liked to see the condition of the RBV it came out of before I commit to something used at that price. Needless to say it stayed there.

are they really that rare? i just bought a rebuilt one this summer with little or no effort, i guess i just lucked out, because the guy who sold me it also sold me a rebuilt M5OD with it, i just wish i could've rebuilt my old tranny and tcase from the same guy and got them back just incase i needed spares

in regards to your question, i would say go buy an old junkyard case, it will be much easier to put in, i had my old one out and my new one in within an hour.
