Electric fan??

Yeah there is alot of different opinions on an electric fan, I'll probably just keep my stock one for now. A good electric fan will probably run around $300 anyway, and like wicked said it will take a while to make up for that in gas milage.

If you're working your truck hard on the trail, it will likely overheat with an electric fan even if it's cold out.

There is a viscous clutch in a mechanical fan designed to disconnect it (for the most part) from the engine when the engine is running at normal temp. Therefore it shouldn't be robbing you of too much power.

The only advantage of an e-fan is that you can turn it off for deep mud and water crossings, and avoid flinging stuff all around the engine.

Other than that, it lacks the cooling ability of a mechanical fan. Chances are, if you wheel hard and swap in an e-fan, you'll need to move up to a larger radiator.

Im runing an E-fan cuz' of clearince issues. When ever i go wheelin and start beating it hard, the engine started to run hot. In my personal experience, E fans on there own suck. The only thing i like about it is that i can turn it off when going through deep water. Im on my 4th fan so far, and the V8swap was done 6 years ago. i have tried a few brands and the brushes wear out long befor they should.

I put on an e-fan about 6 months ago and have had no problems what so ever the reason I went to an efan is my fan clutch went out and it would have costed me the same amount of money so I put on an efan from auto zone. I have my fan running when ever i turn on the ignition so if I do over heat on the trail i am just half a key turn away for the fan to run. It's a 16 inch fan and I have a 3.0

Highly considering doing one on my 2.3L, anyone know of any good "how-to" threads on here of installing one? I burnt up the wiring when i tried installing dual fans on my old F150 years ago, and have never been great when it comes to electrical stuff. I'm wanting to do more homework this time around.

There was one in the general section a couple days ago (less than a week ago)

if you set up your efan correctly it will only come on a few degrees above your thermostat so unless you run it hard or on hot day light to light it shouldn't come on
