Help:I have been putting a 92 2.3 ranger engine ,in my 90 ranger that had a 2.9. I changed all the wiring under the hood ,and the computer wiring and computer from the 92 ranger. I have the truck running, but my amp hand and dash lites, blower motor ,tach doesn't work .I have rechecked all my connections but I still can't find the problem . Thanks for any help. I sure i'm not the first to make this swap jmcgorge

my bet is the ranger engine was from a late '92 ranger where they switched to the '93 wiring where they rewired the instrument cluster, I'm sure you can repin it somewhere to get it to work if you had both wiring diagrams and a thinking cap :)

Thanks ,I will check that out. I have both diagrams . My thinking cap has about had it . thanks again .jmcgorge

I know the feeling, I've spent a good portion of the last month at work working on wiring diagrams for the engines we make, it can make you go batty, not to mention all the other stuff that isn't working right...

just as a note, I was dropping a late '89 (was sold as a '90, but has '89 engine management) cab on a '89 frame and the chassis wiring was different, both bare bones 4 cylinder trucks, I didn't know jack about wiring at the time so I just stripped the chassis harness off of the one frame and put it on the other... I know it doesn't help really, but was just as a note that ford in their infinite wisdom changed their wiring often...

The alternators show a little different wiring also. This could be the cause of your voltmeter not working. You might also want to check your alternator output as it may not be chargine. shady

Thanks, alt output ok.I've found a few wires I will have to repin in the firewall plugin and they do go to inst cluster THANKS. I will keep you posted .I also have a 65 mec. comet inst cluster that i'm rewiring. It won't be as bad I hope jmcgorge
