elect. t-case=wont come out of 4x4

99 3.0 ranger

my dads truck

put it in 4x4 hi wont come out,speedo quit,4x4 hi-lo flash.
any ideas?
all i wanted to do today was put the the trans in my truck....
son calls last night at midnight 07 titan doa on the road.alt quit charging,flat tire.when i got there you couldnt tell what color the truck was.covered in mud.
wifes pwr window puked on her jeep.got the panel off it(gotta make a part)
now pops in the drive with his crap broke.

it just gets better.........
got my trans stabbed,looked at the starter hole in the alum. dust/shim plate and what the......its for a 164 flex plate............jesus h Christ in a side car......i have a 157.......i cant win!
the plate was free so i cant complain,the wife scored it for me,she also helped me wrestle the trans with t-case under the truck(she rules by the way!)
sorry about the rant but its been a heck of a weekend.
any help on my dads truck will be greatly appreciated.

if you just need a temporary fix you can remove the shift motor and shift by hand. but it sounds like something has happened to the connections. the shift motor and speedo gear are not that far apart so if it got snagged it could be just disconnected.
