does anyone know if you can buy a stainless steel egr valve? ive got to replace mine every few years and its a pain. or is there a way to delete it all together?
What is breaking or "going out" that causes you to replace it?
The EGR system keeps cylinder combustion temperatures lower, so your valves and pistons don't melt, preceeded by the "pinging/detonation".
It doesn't decrease available power.
It saves fuel, so increases MPG.
Also reduces emissions.
All around winner of a system, one of the better ideas from engine designers.
Start with high-temp nickle antisieze on the threads and under the collar. If you are killing diaphragms something is getting too hot. Or you are just buying really cheaply made shit. I have never seen one of those fail, ever.
A VHT primer like they use on header should help keep the rust out though.
k i bought me a new one from autozone and painted it with high heat paint. does anyone know what size bolt tread it is. they are rusted off everytime i have to replace an egr so this time i want to buy some stainless ones so it will be easy to change out.
Do you guys know why some Rangers came with no EGR? my truck came from the factory with no EGR. It was a Hawaii truck. I would like to know what they did different on the truck that came without them. Different tune? I love not having one BTW. Less hassle and the motor runs great so I don't see why it's needed.
