EGR Tube connector

So I replaced the cracked exhaust manifold on my 85 Ranger. It was a different casting number than the one I removed but fits fine except for the EGR tube fitting. The one I removed has what looks like a 1"-13 thread size and the new one is much smaller at 11/16 -13. Is there an adapter available or maybe I can buy the entire tube and cobble something together? I saw where Dorman offers EGR connectors but apparently they can't look them up by thread sizes (ridiculous).

Have you looked at pipe fittings at your local hardware stores? That's what I would do.

No but I will probably have to. I was hoping I could find a ford egr tube that would at least fit the exhaust manifold so I could go from there.

So no love at the hardware store.
I went to the Stealership and, after a lecture about using non-stock parts on Fords (it is a Ford casting) I was told it was from a Mustang 2.3L and it used the same size connector as every other Ford 2.3L. Not true but it doesn't matter anyway since it is no longer available anywhere in the States.
I think my next move is going to be to take off the manifold and have the hole opened up and tapped for the larger connecter. Or I may drill it out myself and JB weld it in place.

I just went and looked at my Mustang 2.3L and the EGR tube connector looks like the two sided one you posted.

That's odd. Could be the new exhaust manifold is not a genuine Ford part and they were lazy and just tapped the EGR port the same size as the O2 sensor.

That does look like an O2 sensor hole plug.

On mine the EGR port is right before the collector, and faces almost straight up.

Where did that plug come from?

It's right where the EGR is on the old manifold.

The O2 sensor is mounted from the bottom of the manifold, straight up for 85 model year.

If the diameter of the new EGR port is smaller... have it tapped to a larger size?
If it has a FoMoCo part number cast in, the E6 number, check a boneyard for an 86 Mustang with a 2.3 and snag the EGR tube from that... cut and paste it to the stub of your current EGR tube (use a union)

Yep. The 02 sensor is mounted on the bottom near the collector.
Cool. I'll look for that EGR tube. Saw one on ebay but it was $80. Ouch.
So far it is functioning OK without the EGR but it has a weird issue I'll put into a separate thread. Other than that, it sure is good to have the ol girl running again.
