EGR problems after swap

I swapped a manuel trans into a ranger that had an auto trans. Doing so one of the things I replaced was the computer. The parts truck was a 91 base model. (no power steering, non ac) But it did have all the EGR stuff in it. My other ranger (90 xlt) the one I drive now with my new manuel trans does not have any EGR stuff in it. After looking at the vacuum line sticker on the front of the truck under the hood it does not look like it was even an option. Now it gives me code 84 (EGR solenoid ect..) I assume this is because I had to put a computer in that was originally set up the the EGR stuff. Is there a way around this or should I just swap the intake and everything else from the parts truck to this one. Would this cause the truck to have less power/ fuel mileage. Thanks

sounds like the computer wants to see the egr and its not there. it shouldn't get any losses with mileage or power but you will have a service engine light on thats it

Why did you swap the computer? The automatic would have a 'gripe' about trying to engage the torque converter lockup, but I don't think it would throw a code that turned on the CEL or SES light. I think the clutch pedal interlock is just a dumb mechanical switch in series with the power to the starter solenoid. What else is there?
If you went back, you would not have the ECM lighting up for the lack of EGR, anyway.
Did you check all the pinouts on both computers to determine if the inputs/outputs were the same and to see if there is a way to fake out the one you have installed?

I switched the computers because on every forum I have read (Link to one below) has suggested to swap the computer because it is set up for an auto and would make your truck get bad gas milage. No I didn't check all the pinouts to see if they were the same. I will do that and if nothing else can just change it back and see what happends. Never hurts to experiment.

The 90 Ranger Should have an EGR Valve. But this doesnt answer your question so,

This circuit fools the computer so that it believes the EGR position sensor and the solenoid are there and working correctly. This circuit works for 91 through 93 Rangers.
(I'm not sure on the 90 model)

Yeah don't do that.
I fits not there its not there, but don't circumvent whats there like the diagram shows.
You'll gain no mileage from it and more then likely problems.
