EGR passages

On a stock '93 2.3L, do the EGR passages pass through the intake to heads or are they all in the intake manifold?

There's a tube on the exhaust manifold that runs around the back side of the head to the intake.

Some vehicles have passages that run from the intake, through the intake manifold gasket and into (or out of) the head. I am unaware of whether this is one of them.

it enters the intake manifold right behind the throttle body, they didn't do the in head route on the 2.3's

The EGR valve always puts the exhaust gases into the intake so all cylinders can get the exhaust/air/fuel mix to lower NOx levels under load.

The exhaust gases can come from the exhaust manifold or an exhaust port in the head.

I have had a CEL on for years due to EGR issues.
Last year I installed a 2.5 long block but kept the '93 intake manifold. I remember that there was one passage on the intake that did not mate up to the head. At the time I believed it was a water passage and wasn't critical.
I just bought a new EGR valve and position sensor and started thinking that if that passage was actual an EGR passage then replacing my valve would be a waste of time.
Since you have confirmed there are no head EGR passages I guess I will go ahead with replacement.
