Im getting this code and dont understand why. It has a new BW egr valve and egr sensor. I do have a spectre drop in filter and a 50 series flowmaster dualed out. Could that cause the problem, or is the valve not opening enough? Ive tested for vacume leakes everuwhere and found none. Truck idles perfect and runs perfect, just keep gettin this freakin code and dont know what the cause is. maybe carbon buildup in the intake?? Id appreciate any insight on this, thanks.

A lot of times the code is not caused by a bad egr valve, rather a build up of carbon in the tunnel on the throttle body where the valve is attached. I've had good luck pulling the valve and cleaning the passage with some wire twisted together. probably not the best way of doing it, but it's quick and it usually works for me. Otherwise pull the throttle body off and give it a thorough cleaning.

ok, ill try that. should i use a new gasket or will the old one be able to be reused?

oh and thanks for the links, very good info

it'll be plugged up on the intake side not the exhaust side, easy to clean if you pull the upper intake manifold... you can probably reuse the gasket

took egr valve and tube off, and the throttle body. upper intake was full of carbon buildup and the tube had some as well. took upper intake off and had it hot tanked and cleaned the thottle body with carb cleaner and put it back together and WOW what a difference. mind you it ran great before but now it just seems like its happier and feel a lil more top end. thanks for the suggestions guys. i think everybody should do this at a point where they have the time and can afford it,as now im getting and even 27 mpg on the highway.
